Senior Reporting Analyst

NHS AfC: Band 7

Come and join us

We're looking for people who share our values (compassion, accountability and optimism) to help us provide high quality care to the patients, carers, families and local communities we serve. We specialise in providing NHS mental health and learning disability services.

So what can we offer you in return?

We're an organisation which puts people first. We'll do everything possible to help you feel respected, valued and included. We'll help you learn, acquire new skills and gain further experience to support your career development. And we'll provide the opportunity for you to bring your fresh ideas to work about how we can do things differently and continue improving.

You will also be joining a health and care system committed to working together to do the best we can for the communities we serve. Above all, at Sussex Partnership you'll have the chance to make a difference to the lives of the patients, carers and families across our communities.

As a Trust we are committed in making a difference. Your development is important to us, so don't forget to ask us during interview what opportunities we can offer. We can offer fully funded lifelong learning opportunities such as an apprenticeship from GCSE to Masters level.

If you like the sound of that, then come and join our team.

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Performance & Insight Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. With the Trust moving to Microsoft Fabric and launching a new Electronic Patient Record system in November, we’re rebuilding our entire reporting infrastructure and visualisations using Power BI.

This is a rare chance to be part of a high-impact transformation, helping to create a best-in-class reporting environment that drives smart, insight-led decisions and improves care across the organisation.

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical skills in SQL and DAX with a creative flair for data visualisation and a focus on user needs. You’ll be confident working with stakeholders, asking the right questions, and challenging constructively. You’ll also be a strong team player, supporting and coaching others in report development.

You’ll need a proven track record of building clear, high-quality reports that enable data-informed decisions and deliver real value.

Experience working in the NHS and/or mental health services is highly desirable, especially if you understand the specific reporting challenges and priorities in this setting.

If you're passionate about using data to drive improvement, and excited by the opportunity to shape reporting from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  • Develop and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards to support Trust objectives using multiple data sources.

  • Lead on Trust-wide performance reporting including Board-level and divisional reports.

  • Ensure data governance and quality for key performance metrics and data flows, including completeness and compliance.

  • Support team development and act as an expert in data presentation and visualisation to ensure clear, impactful reporting.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure accurate, consistent, and strategic reporting.

Working for our organisation

Working within the Performance and Insights team at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust offers a unique opportunity to be part of a friendly, multiskilled, and forward-thinking group that plays a vital role in driving the Trust’s success. Our team is highly valued across the organisation for delivering high-impact work that supports informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

At the heart of everything we do are the Trust’s core values of Compassion, Accountability, and Optimism. We approach our work with compassion, understanding the real-world impact of the data and insights we provide. We take accountability for the quality and accuracy of our reporting and analytics, ensuring they consistently meet the needs of our stakeholders. And we maintain optimism, even in the face of challenges, constantly seeking new ways to innovate and improve.

If you join our team, you will be working alongside visionary colleagues who are passionate about making a difference, equipped with a diverse range of skills that complement each other to deliver outstanding results. Together, we support the Trust’s mission to provide excellent mental health services, contributing to better outcomes for the people we serve.
