Trust Doctor in the Emergency Medicine

NHS Medical & Dental: 2002 Contracts MN37

Job overview

Applications are invited for Trust Doctor (CT1-2) posts in Emergency Medicine from August 2025 for 12 months. Earlier start dates may be accommodated.  Posts are available at both St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester and Worthing Hospital, Worthing.

The post would be ideal for candidates who are interested in a career in Emergency Medicine and who wish to apply for an ACCS or IMT programme next year.  The programme will provide broad coverage in line with the national curriculum and good training exposure.

These jobs are ideal for those wishing to take some time out of a formal training programme who want stability, training, supervision, a study budget as well as GMC revalidation but do not yet want to commit to a training programme.

Rostering is via gold standard annualised principles using Healthrota.

Main duties of the job

The work is varied, and clinical work is based on the ED shop floor, where you will gain experience of working in all areas of the department including the resuscitation room and paediatrics. There is shop floor senior support at all times and this allows a wide range of clinical training experience. Shifts are busy, but well supported.

·         Care of critically ill patients and resuscitation of patients in the Emergency Department

·         Participation in the full shift rota pattern with a 1:5.6 night and 1:3 weekend frequency. Appropriate paid time is allocated for educational activities.

·         Involvement in Emergency Department multi-disciplinary team meetings.

·         Involvement in patient queue management

·         Teaching and supervision of medical students and nursing staff and active participation in SHO tutorials

·         Active involvement in audit and the development of departmental policies

·         Internal cover is built into the rota for annual leave and sick leave.
