First Response Service (FRS) are looking for applications from Registered mental health Nurses for our 24/ 7 Mental Health Crisis Assessment Service. The service offers support to the diverse population of Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

The Service is ageless and includes assessments for working age adults, older people, Children and Adolescents and Women in the Perinatal Period who are experiencing a mental health crisis ensuring that people can access the right help in a timely way.

Main duties of the job

The candidate will need to be an experienced practitioner in mental Health acute care, providing high quality crisis assessment in any environment, both in person and over the phone. They will lead shifts and be called on to manage staff, presenting themselves as a role model and agent of change to the team.

Key to the service is its relationships with its stakeholders and as such diplomacy and an empathy for other services pressures while at the same time promoting mental health is essential.

Essential

Essential criteria
  • Registered Mental Nursing Certificate (RMN) Current Registration on part 3 or part 13 of NMC register.
  • MSc, or working towards accredited course which enables Advanced Practitioner registration.
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber with prescribing Experience.
  • Teaching and assessing learners qualification/certificate.
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership qualification/training.
  • Clinical Supervision Certificate / Course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 2 years Acute / Crisis Experience
  • Multi-agency working / Working with Diverse Populations.
  • Taking a lead in Clinical risk assessment and safety planning - evidence of.
  • Teaching, training and/or supervision of clinical staff.
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership experience.
  • Evidence of supporting Learners in Clinical Practice.

Job Overview Continued-

As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner you will be assessing, formulating and working with people & families presenting in heightened states of distress delivering brief solution focused interventions/strategies for managing crisis/ risk. This could include signposting / referring to other statutory Services or to our Voluntary Sector Partners to develop a safety plan and mitigate against risks. This may take place in patient's homes, GP surgeries, A & E, Police stations or on site.

You will be offered a comprehensive induction on commencement. You will be expected to offer support to the Team manager by negotiation and will deputise for the Team Manager in their absence.   You will be expected to offer line management supervision to first responders in the team and to lead by example. 

You will be expected to cover the role of duty worker / shift lead on a rotational basis. You will need to be organised, work in a collaborative way in the best interests of patients, be able to allocate tasks to others in a timely way, liaise with other allied teams and offer live supervision to telecoaches and first responders on shift with you.
Group Peer supervision is available and dedicated time for Clinical Supervision / relevant training is actively encouraged.
