Job overview
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced, motivated, and clinically confident IV Therapy Lead Nurse to provide expert clinical, operational, and professional leadership across IV therapy services within the community, acute settings, and Hospital at Home services.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality IV therapy services, ensuring safe, effective, and person-centred care for patients requiring intravenous treatment.
- Act as the Trust-wide expert for IV therapy, vascular access, infusion management, and medicines administration.
- Provide leadership, trouble shooting, professional supervision, and operational oversight of nursing staff across all services delivering IV therapy, supporting recruitment, performance management, and staff development as required.
- Oversee operational delivery of the service, including a 7-day care model, capacity planning, contingency management, and escalation during service pressure.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and with partner organisations to ensure integrated, technology-enabled care, supporting patient flow and care closer to home.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
· Provide advanced clinical assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients requiring IV therapy across community and home settings.
· Act as clinical expert and senior decision-maker, including independent clinical review of patients receiving IV therapy, escalation of concerns, and urgent decision-making for complex cases.
· Lead on the development, implementation, and review of IV therapy pathways, including OPAT, hospital at home services, and advanced IV delivery models.

Essential criteria
- RGN/ current NMC registration
- Independent / Supplementary Prescribing qualification
- Practice Assessor / Practice Supervisor qualification or willingness to complete
- Role-specific training relevant to IV therapy
- Demonstrable experience in IV therapy and vascular access management
Desirable criteria
- Leadership or management qualification
- Advanced assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Experience of Hospital @ Home/Virtual Wards and Urgent Community Response models of care
