Job overview

We are recruiting for a Clinical Educator who shares our ambition and vision to deliver high quality, compassionate care to our patients. To provide clinical education to our busy paediatric team within the trust.

Main duties of the job

We welcome a creative, individual who can demonstrate leadership ability and skills in supporting nursing and support staff to be equipped with the right skills and knowledge base in the clinical area.. You will need to possess excellent communication skills, leadership and tenacity as well as a compassionate approach to children and their families. We need a team player who is dynamic and flexible.

 

You will be required to be forward thinking in your approach and be proactive to improve the hospital experience for both child and family.

 

On the Calderdale site, we have a 35 bed unit which includes Same Day Emergency Care, Enhanced Care, medical inpatients and planned surgery. On the Huddersfield Site we have an 8 bed unit which cares for children requiring acute surgery and clinical decisions unit which is supported by Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioners. 

 

Having extensive acute children’s nursing experience and proven evidence based clinical skills you will be highly motivated, well organized and able to act on your own initiative.

Significant experience of mentoring, supervision, teaching and assessment is a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • First level registration NMC RSCN or RN Child
  • Recognised teaching and assessing skills
  • Mentorship/Preceptorship Qualification
  • Recognized teaching qualification or working towards this
  • Evidence of recent education in relevant field
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Degree in health care
  • ALS Certificate
  • Leadership training

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post-registration experience in children’s services and evidence of continual professional development
  • Demonstrate current awareness, understanding and knowledge of educational issues relating to paediatric nursing.
  • Ability to participate and work within a changing and demanding environment
  • Monitor and maintain excellent standards of care.
  • Significant experience of mentoring, supervision, teaching and assessment.
