Job overview
Are you an ODP and want to work in an exciting department? If the answer is yes then the JAG accredited Endoscopy Service at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity for an ODP at Calderdale Royal Hospital and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary Endoscopy units. The Trust has two purpose built State of the Art Endoscopy units. One based at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and one at the Calderdale Royal Hospital each with 3 theatres and a decontamination unit. The units deliver the Bowel Screening service alongside the diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy service to out-patients and in-patients and an acute service for GI bleeds. Both units are training units, training both Medical Staff and Clinical Endoscopists.
Main duties of the job
- To work within the HCPC standards, and within policies, procedures and guidelines of Calderdale & Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
- Participate in the decontamination of endoscopic equipment and traceability of all equipment including paper and computer systems
- Participate in an on call rota for acute upper GI patients needing emergency treatment
- Assist endoscopists during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures and utilise all equipment appropriately as lead pprring deep sedation lists
- Assist the anaethetist during deep sedation lists
- Identify own training needs associated with endoscopic equipment

Essential criteria
- Knowledge and skill to plan, deliver, and evaluate high quality, evidence-based care to a group of patients within the speciality of the post
- Knowledge and skill in infection prevention and control principles and procedures
- Competence in speciality or role specific extended skills required of the post or willingness to undertake necessary training
- Cannulation skills
Desirable criteria
- Endoscopy experience
- Knowledge of endoscopy equipment
Communication and Relationships
Essential criteria
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to adapt to meet the requirements of patients, their families/carers, and professional colleagues.
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
