Job overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated and pro-active qualified radiographers to join our friendly team at the Calderdale and Huddersfield ISAS accredited radiology departments. We undertake a comprehensive range of imaging procedures offering excellent experience in front-line Radiography using some of the latest digital equipment.

Flexibility to participate in the out of hours and weekend services is required.

Summary of most important Experience/Skills/Qualifications required:

BSc or DCR in Radiography.
All applicants must be registered with the HCPC.
To work as part of the team with good inter-personal and communication skills.
Working out of hours and on call is essential.
Neat, tidy and professional appearance.
Computer literate.

 

Main duties of the job

Brief Description of the Role:

To work as part of the Imaging team in the diagnostic department, maintaining high standards of patient care and be proficient at producing good quality images. You will be required to work in all areas of the plain film service including Theatre & ED, and have experience of using CR/DR/PACS equipment. Support and training will be given to newly qualified radiographers. We encourage staff to develop within our directorate and to enable progression into specialised areas.

Working for CHFT - The jobs are cross site so staff will be working at both the Calderdale and Huddersfield sites including the Community Diagnostic Centres.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide a full range of radiographic examinations performed within the
department, operating theatres, wards & outreach facilities ensuring that high standards of clinical practice are maintained.

Be responsible for the quality of own work and that of student radiographers under supervision.

Ensure that high quality images are produced on all age ranges of patients, adapting techniques to accommodate the clinical, physical and mental needs of the patient and ensuring high standards of patient care at all times.

Registered with the The Health and Care Professions Council.

Works within the Professional Code of Conduct and Standards of Proficiency. Works within the policies, procedures and guidelines set by the Trust.

Adheres to departmental protocols.

Rotate across all sites linked to CHFT.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • DCR/Degree in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Good general training in Radiography including manual handling and IRMER
  • HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of relevant CPD

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential criteria
  • Experience of Radiography including A&E, Theatre & Mobile work and variety of Plain Film work
  • Computer literate
  • Experience with CR & DR systems and PACS
  • Ability to work with a range of radiographic equipment
  • Ability to work individually and in a team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in CT head scanning
