Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and pro-active experienced Trust worker to work as a Clinical Support Worker at the new Community Diagnostic Centre in Huddersfield.  You will work within the CT scanning, Phlebotomy and Point of care test departments. The services will operate over 7 days between 8am-8pm. The successful applicants rota will reflect these hours.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the CT scanning, phlebotomy and Point of Care teams maintaining high standards of patient preparation and care and be proficient at venepuncture and  intravenous cannulation. You will be required to work in all areas of the service.


Current experience of working within the service area, or wider hospital.

Experience of a patient focused role.

Proficient in venepuncture and IV Cannulation.

Good knowledge of Radiology CRIS.

Neat, tidy and professional appearance.

Working for our organisation

To work as part of the team with good interpersonal and communication skills. Working out of hours (5-8.30 pm)and weekend shifts is an essential requirement.

To undertake all duties associated with assisting to deliver the provision of a modern diagnostic imaging service and phlebotomy service, providing high standards of patient care at all times. To work as required within a 7-day working week.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING

Essential criteria
  • English and Math GCSE grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent or high level of literacy and numeracy skills demonstrated within application
  • Competence based level 3 Qualification e.g. NVQ or Diploma in Care or The Care Certificate issued by an employer
  • Willingness to undertake any training or development relevant to the role
  • Competent in cannulation /venepuncture/plaster training and specialist dressings.
  • Moving and Handling
  • Infection Control
  • Customer Care
  • Competent / able to evidence the completion of Health Care Assistant core competencies
  • ECG training and competency

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Essential criteria
  • Previous employment with a healthcare setting (18 months)
  • Insight into the roles of responsibilities of the post
  • Demonstrate a commitment to a caring profession
  • Understand the importance of record keeping
  • Literacy Skills
  • IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of record keeping
  • Experience in undertaking point of care testing
  • Experience in application of basic dressing techniques
