Our service assist clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  We require enthusiastic, caring individuals to work in a residential setting with homeless men over the age of 18. You will support your client to be able to sustain their own future tenancies 

As a Hostel Worker, you will provide high quality care and support to our clients . You will be passionate in making a difference to our client’s lives, helping them to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions. There are 3 x 12.5 hour shifts per week in a combination of days and nights. The job entails supporting men who have differing levels of support needs including homelessness, mental health and substance misuse. You will meet clients at least once per week to carry out support and resettlement plans     

Main duties of the job

Person Centred - Prepare person-centred support plans with clients which reflect their views and aspirations and respect their beliefs and opinions, reviewing and amending them as necessary and considering the client’s changing needs and wishes.

·     Respectful - Support clients to fulfil their aspirations, supporting them to live as independently as possible, in accordance with their skills and abilities. This may include accompanying them on social visits and events, supporting them with their interests and hobbies, promoting choice, arranging activities and outings, and developing their skills and knowledge.

·     Open - Communicate in an open and transparent way with clients and other team members, acting with integrity and doing what you say that you will do.

·     Understanding - Where required you may be asked to provide personal care to clients in a way that respects their choices and dignity. This can include assistance with washing and toileting.

·     Dedicated - Keep appropriate, accurate records, including daily notes, with full involvement of the client.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 1          Responsible for assisting in the day to day running of the hostel, including domestic, practical and administrative duties as necessary.

2          Responsible with colleagues for processing hostel referrals and admissions, including the assessment of complex needs and risk relevant to residency and resettlement.

3          Responsible with colleagues for supporting residents in maintaining their accommodation, e.g. by assisting with applications for Housing and Welfare Benefits as appropriate.

4          Responsible for working with residents, colleagues and other agencies to plan and carry out move-on support plans, providing advice, advocacy and support including what is required to meet the needs of those with complex personal, social and health related problems.

5          Responsible for promoting the independence of Clients and maximising their involvement in their move-on support plans.

6          Responsible for helping to create and maintain a friendly, safe and secure environment.

7          Responsible for adhering to Health and Safety procedures and reporting all repairs through the appropriate channels.

8          Responsible for identifying and managing risk within the role including taking timely remedial action including eviction.

9          Responsible for promoting resident participation in the management of the hostel.

10        Responsible for maintaining accurate and appropriate records relating to organisational and resident issues.

11        Responsible for communicating effectively within the workplace, the team and the organisation and with other organisations and agencies or workers whose role(s) impact on your service.

12        Responsible for addressing your training needs and personal development in conjunction with your manager to meet service objectives.

13        Responsible for ensuring that your service has access to and uses the best current thinking and practice in the delivery of these services.

14        Responsible for contributing to the successful future development of St Anne's by highlighting opportunities within the broad corporate aims of the organisation.  This will include contributions to policy and procedures, and to service developments.

15   Responsible for ensuring that as an individual and as part of a team, resources are used appropriately and all reasonable steps are taken to avoid waste.

16   Responsible for ensuring that as an individual and as part of a team you are aware and follow Information Governance policies and procedures.
