Area Manager – North East
37.5 hours per week
Based in North East (head office in Morley, Leeds)
£54,135 per annum plus a £3,000 car allowance
Managing a group of learning disability services, as an Area Manager, you’ll be responsible for shaping and leading high-quality services that reflect the needs of the individuals we support. This is your opportunity to make a tangible impact—by inspiring staff, supporting development, and driving quality improvement across your area.
You will join a team of 2 highly experienced Heads of Operations & 9 Area Managers who will support and guide you through your management journey.
The focus of this exciting role include:
People Leadership – Recruit, support, and manage your team professionally to create a motivated, capable, and caring workforce.
Staff & Personal Development – Champion training and development for yourself and your team, ensuring skills stay aligned with service goals, local commissioning plans, and regulatory changes.
Quality Improvement – Be accountable for continuously enhancing the quality of care with support from our dedicated Quality Team.
Client Involvement – Promote client voice, choice, and involvement at every level of service planning and delivery.

Main duties of the job
Responsible for ensuring that all staff employed within your service are recruited, developed, supported and managed in an appropriate and professional manner to meet the needs of individual services.
Responsible and accountable for addressing the learning and development needs of yourself, your Managers and staff and ensuring that these are reviewed against St Anne's service objectives, local Commissioning Plans, local contract requirements and changes in legislation.
Responsible and accountable for the Continuous Quality Improvement of the service provided within your defined management span, supported by the Quality function.
Responsible for maximising the opportunities for Client participation and involvement at different levels and in different ways in your service.
Responsible for ensuring that you and staff within your service comply with St Anne's values and beliefs, policies and procedures. In addition, that any legal or contractual obligations are fully met.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Responsible for contributing to the development of budgets for your services and accountable for ensuring that they remain within agreed budgets.
Responsibility for ensuring that your service(s) have access to, and uses, current thinking, research and evidence-based practice in the delivery of those services.
Responsible for ensuring that any contract requirements in respect of your service are fully complied with and work towards exceeding these in future years.
Responsible for communicating effectively within your workplace, within your team and within the organisation, and for escalating appropriate matters.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective links with other organisations, and agencies, or workers whose role(s) may impact upon your service area both internally and externally.
Taking a lead in new service development, managing the process of new services being set up or transferred and working with the Business Development Department to secure new work.
Responsible for ensuring regular dialogue with all Commissioners purchasing work in your services and ensure positive productive working relationships.
Responsibility for contributing to the successful future development of St Anne's by highlighting opportunities within the broad corporate aims of the organisation. This will include contributions to policy and procedures and to service developments.
Responsible for ensuring that active steps are taken to minimise the period of voids, maximising interest in vacancies and ensuring arrears are kept within agreed targets.

Essential criteria
- Professional qualification, e.g. Nursing / Social Work and/or relevant management qualification, e.g. NVQ 4/5, CMS, CMI Level 5 DMS or MBA
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of Managing Social Care services
Desirable criteria
- Setting up and / or development of new Services
- Experience of managing more than one service
- Experience in a learning disability service

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
