Job overview

This post provides an opportunity to pursue a career in Intensive Care in an Anaesthesia Clinical Services Accreditation (ACSA) accredited department between the spectacular Yorkshire Dales and the cosmopolitan centres of Bradford and Leeds.

We welcome applications from candidates in Intensive Care Medicine who are single, dual or triple accredited in other specialities including Anaesthetics..

Main duties of the job

Management of patients on the Critical Care Unit, support for the Outreach team and provision of post intensive care follow up for inpatients and outpatients. In anaesthesia preoperative assessment, anaesthetic care and immediate postoperative care to patients at Airedale General Hospital requiring diagnosis or treatment of illness in a variety of settings. 

 

Other duties will depend on the experience and specialty of the successful candidate, which can include areas such as Respiratory Medicine, Acute Medicine and Anaesthesia

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • GMC Registration
  • FFICM/EDIC or eligible
Desirable criteria
  • Higher academic qualifications
  • ATLS / ALS / APLS / PALS
  • Attendance at recognised management course
  • FRCA/MRCP/MRCS or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Be on the GMC Specialist Register or be no more than six months from receiving CCT at interview date
  • Thorough understanding of the NHS Constitution and its implications

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Wide general experience of critical care including post-critical care follow up, perioperative medicine and obstetric critical are
  • Ability to contribute to the full range of skills required for the intensive care on call rota on-call rota
  • Evidence of clear/lucid written skills
  • Experience of teaching and supervision of postgraduate trainees
Desirable criteria
  • Paediatric anaesthesia or critical care experience
  • Subspecialty interest in respiratory medicine, anaesthesia or acute medicine
  • Attendance at ‘Training the Trainers’ course
  • Educational Supervision Training
  • Attendance at assessment and appraisal course
  • Teaching qualification
