Job overview
The post holder will be expected to participate fully in the provision of general surgical services to the Hospital. The post holder will work on a rotation within Breast Surgery, General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery.
Post holders would be expected to deputise from time to time for absent colleagues, to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances & to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
You will be expected to see all vascular emergency referrals from the wards or A&E and liaise with the ‘Vascular Network’ consultant on call via switchboard for appropriate advice and transfer as necessary. (There is no elective vascular surgery at Airedale, Mr Molloy works here part time undertaking OP clinics and seeing inpatient referrals with all elective vascular surgery being transferred to the nearby Bradford Royal Infirmary). Middle grades out of hours are also responsible for Urology cover, with AGH Consultants on call.
As well as providing ward and on call cover for the General surgery division, the post holder will have the opportunity to work clinically in Theatre, Endoscopy and Outpatients depending on experience and rota availability.
