Job overview

This new role presents an exciting opportunity to deliver comprehensive administrative support for the Family Services rota—covering obstetrics & gynaecology and child health. The postholder will coordinate the junior doctors’ rota and ensure full compliance with contractual requirements and the European Working Time Directive.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will update the medical on-call rota and ward staffing following management of annual leave and study leave requests in addition to sickness. In collaboration with peers in other departments, the post holder will assist with the induction of the junior doctors rotating into the Trust and Family Services.

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualification
  • Proven planning and organisational skills within a complex environment
  • Ability to manage rotas, responding to strategic issues strategies to enable problem solving
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines and fulfil the priorities of the service, organising own workload and acting on own initiative where appropriate and within parameters set by the service
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including managing difficult conversations and resolving conflict.
  • Comprehensive IT skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft packages, and Excel and databases. Management of emails using MS Outlook.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of rota coordinating.
  • Administration experience preferably within a health care environment
  • Extensive diary management or working in a role with high organisational skillset.
  • Evidence of high-level office administration skills with experience of developing and maintaining robust office procedures.
