NSS Cancer Pathway Navigator

An extremely exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the Cancer Services team in an innovative position of Non-site specific (NSS) Pathway Navigator at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
The Cancer Services team have implemented an early diagnostic pathway for patients with a suspected cancer to achieve definitive diagnosis by day 28 following referral by the GP. The navigator (this role) will be involved from the beginning of the pathway to work both directly and indirectly with both patients and their carers to assist in coordinating the patient pathway. The role of the navigator will work closely with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Nurse Specialist to improve the timeliness of the patient journey and the patient's experience.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, flexible individual with advanced IT, administrative, secretarial and organisational skills. The individual must have strong IT skills and have the ability to work effectively alone but also as part of a team. The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills and an ability to deal with complex situations with patients, service users and clinicians over the phone and in person.
The ideal candidate would have good medical terminology and a strong awareness of a hospital (or similar) environment.
An ability to work autonomously and to respond quickly to requests is required in addition to the ability to use your own initiative. There are elements of lone working as part of this role.
