Job overview

We are seeking motivated and patient-centred General Practitioners to join our new Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), due to open in Autumn 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new service from its inception, helping to establish a high-quality urgent care model that provides timely assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with urgent healthcare needs.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert clinical care to patients with a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries, ensuring patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

The Urgent Treatment Centre will work closely with local primary care services, NHS 111, ambulance services, Emergency Departments and community providers to support integrated urgent care pathways across the health system.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

· Provide high-quality clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting to the Urgent Treatment Centre.

· Manage a broad range of urgent but non-life-threatening conditions across all age groups.

· Request, interpret and act upon appropriate investigations.

· Prescribe safely and effectively in accordance with local and national guidelines.

· Make appropriate referrals to specialist, community, primary care or emergency services.

· Work collaboratively with Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and other members of the multidisciplinary team.

· Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records using electronic patient record systems.

· Participate in clinical governance, audit, service evaluation and quality improvement activities.

· Support the development and continuous improvement of the Urgent Treatment Centre service.

· Contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate care that meets patient needs and organisational standards.
