Operational Finance Director
Band 9
Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Operational Finance Director to lead financial planning, control, and continuous improvement at Trust level within the BSW Hospitals Group. As a key member of the Trust Management Team, you will provide strong financial leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, sustainable, and efficient healthcare services.
Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer of BSW Hospitals Group, with an indirect line to the Managing Director of Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, you will oversee all aspects of local financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, capital planning, business case development, and overall financial performance.
This role will ensure that financial activities are fully aligned with the Group’s overarching financial strategy and policy. In addition, you will play a vital leadership role in driving financial improvements and enhancing the financial capabilities of both clinical and operational teams across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for leading day-to-day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, while driving financial improvements, cost-efficiency initiatives, and income generation strategies. You will oversee capital planning and investment assurance in alignment with the Group’s strategic objectives and deliver timely, insightful financial reports to support informed decision-making. The role involves developing and leading a high-performing finance team, promoting professionalism and continuous growth, ensuring compliance with financial governance, audit, and risk management standards, and collaborating closely with senior stakeholders across the Group and the wider NHS system to enhance financial performance and operational effectiveness.
