Job overview
Salisbury Hospital has been granted funding to develop a Urgent Treatment Centre in a bid to deliver an outstanding urgent and emergency care service for our local population. A programme board has already been stood up and building work commenced with a view to potentially opening in the Autumn of 2026
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping clinical services, ensuring high-quality patient care, and set-up of the clinical workforce and operating model. As a General Practitioner you will work closely with the UTC Clinical Lead and wider multidisciplinary teams within Salisbury Hospital to ensure our Urgent Treatment Centre is set up both operationally and clinically to a) enhance patient outcomes in an urgent care environment b) provide a safe, well equipped and functional space for our People and c) ensure our working aligns with the wider system and local services.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and expertise to the UTC, guiding clinical practice and patient care initiatives specifically centred around urgent care and general practice
Service Development: Contribute to the design and implementation of clinical protocols, pathways, and procedures within the UTC to ensure best practices in urgent care and ensure those practices align with local systems and national guidance.
Quality Assurance: Ensure that processes are in place to monitor and evaluate clinical performance, compliance with national standards and guidelines to maintain high levels of patient safety and quality once up and running.
Training and Mentorship: Explore opportunities for AHPs and benefits they could confer in the Urgent Treatment Centre and foster links with General Practice Vocational Training Scheme to see if rotational staffing could support our developing operating and workforce mode.
Patient Care: Ensure that processes are in place to allow for the prompt assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients presenting with a range of urgent care conditions, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care. Share Primary care experience and knowledge to establish efficient processes.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with emergency services, primary care, and other healthcare professionals to provide seamless patient experiences and referral processes are in place ready for planned opening.
