Employer heading

Lymphoedema / Vascular Specialist Nurse
Band 7
Job overview
As a Lymphoedema nurse specialist you will be part of a friendly supportive team delivering high quality evidence-based care to patients with primary /secondary and cancer related lymphoedema and those suffering with Lipoedema
This role is an exciting opportunity to train in this area, and to develop new knowledge of these conditions which is growing constantly through ongoing research, both in UK and abroad. The role will be band 6 initially but once trained will be at a band 7. If you already posses the skills and knowledge however, we can then offer you band 7.
To be part of this ever-developing field, and our expanding service at SDH, and possibly satellite clinics as part of that expansion.
There will be ample opportunity to grow and develop personally and professionally.
The Service is based in Vascular Unit at Salisbury District Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The applicant must be NMC registered with at least 2 years’ experience; knowledge of lymphoedema, lipoedema, or leg ulcers is advantageous. Once trained, you will work autonomously, assessing, diagnosing, and managing complex lymphoedema/lipoedema.
You will provide specialist treatments including compression therapy, skin care advice, photo biomodulation, and self-lymphatic drainage guidance, as well as developing personalised care plans to promote independence.
Education duties include supporting patients and groups, organising study days, and training hospital/community staff. Formal lymphoedema training via the Lymphoedema Training Academy (FG/MLD method) is required to achieve Band 7, with re-certification every 2 years. Ongoing professional development includes attending the BLS conference annually and joining local BLS groups.
Essential qualities: enthusiasm, patient-centred care, relationship-building, adaptability, willingness to learn, and a passion for improving the lives of people with lymphoedema/lipoedema.
