Job overview

An opportunity has arisen to join our friendly centralised team of administrators to provide a comprehensive administrative and clerical service in support of the multidisciplinary team, in all areas of the Maternity and Neonatal services.

The successful candidate will have good, up-to-date IT skills and experience of using Windows based PC applications while being person-centred in their interactions with patients and staff.

 We are looking for a person who is able to work within a team and also enjoys lone working and has experience of working with the general public in an administration role, preferably within a health care environment. They will need to adapt to meet the needs of the working areas which include our Antenatal Clinic reception, Birth Centre reception, Labour Ward, Postnatal Ward, Day Assessment Unit, Neonatal Unit and associated back office functions.

 This full time role requires working a mixture of rostered shift times of 08:00am-16:00pm and 10:00am-18:00pm and includes weekend and bank holiday working.

Main duties of the job

Provide clerical support in all areas of the maternity and neonatal services, using a wide range of IT systems, inputting of sensitive patient information and time sensitive data.

  • Typing skills or experience or equivalent IT skills

  • RSA typing level 2 or above (or equivalent)

  • Relevant experience of working within the public in a customer/patient facing role and dealing with face-to-face enquiries and/or telephone calls

  • Evidence of working on your own initiative within established procedures, organising and prioritising own workload
  • Experience of dealing with difficult and sensitive situations
  • Experience of working within a clerical setting using office procedures for a minimum of two years
