Job overview

The main purpose of this role is to:

  • ·         Optimising opportunities for sharing intelligence gained from correlating data  from patient experience, to inform service improvements. 
  • ·         Leading on personalised care and birth choice options offered to women
  • ·         Explore the issues related to health inequalities within maternity and neonatal services, to better support these often-marginalised groups.  

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the development of a maternity services strategy that maximises the positive experience of women and families at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust (SFT).

Ensure that service users are included in the co-production of services and that they can confidently make choices about their care to enable the monitoring and enhancement of the patient experience.

Work and liaise with the Maternity and Neonatal Voices partnership (MNVP) and Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) to coproduce services which reflect the feedback from women and enhance personalisation of the service and shared decision making.

Essential and desirable

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of training related to equality and diversity
  • Evidence of supporting women to achieve the birth of their choice and providing informed choice
  • Thorough understanding of current research and issues relating to health inequalities in the perinatal period in particular the findings from the recent MBBRACE report
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with a wide range of people
  • Flexibility in communication: proven track record of being able to respond appropriately and sensitively to different and challenging situations
  • Self-motivator with high standards for self and others with an adaptable and flexible approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Evidence of knowledge of recent midwifery research and clinical audit
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of Quality Improvement projects
  • Experience in providing training or education to peers
  • Experience of working and collaborating with maternity service user groups
  • Knowledge of best practices in relation to EDI
