Locum Consultant in Gynaecology

Consultant

Job overview

An exciting 12 month fixed-term opportunity has arisen for a new consultant job due to a recent engagement of current consultants in management opportunities and a need to continue to reduce elective care recovery in gynaecology.  We would welcome a candidate with a broad gynaecological experience, with an ability to contribute to most aspects of elective gynaecological care.

Our current consultants have broad interests ranging from oncology to outpatient hysteroscopy.  We are a DGH but have subspecialist level multidisciplinary vulval skin and menopause clinics and visiting gynae-oncology colleagues.  We are also supported by a team of middle grade doctors including Clinical Fellows in reproductive medicine, Deanery speciality trainees and an ST1/GPVTS/FY tier. All rotas have now been designed to be compliant with the new contract.

The post would have an appropriate share of gynaecology clinics and sessions in theatre.  There would be associated administrative time and SPA.  It is expected that the programmed activities will be flexible to meet the needs of the department. Fixed term colleagues in the department have gone on to gain substantive posts locally, regionally and nationally.

Main duties of the job

The last few years have seen many proactive and positive changes to our O&G department, including building works which have renovated many of the Gynaecology clinic areas. Our new ambulatory Gynaecology suite includes dedicated outpatient hysteroscopy with recovery area, colposcopy and ultrasound facilities. The department is currently expanding outpatient activity and this is an evolving area.

Some of the key duties within this role include:

- General gynaecology clinics

- Specialist clinics to suit applicant and department

- Theatre sessions
