Job overview

Salisbury Hospice  are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated  band 5 registered Nurses to join our team. Preferably with experience for caring for people with life limiting conditions to work in our inpatient unit. You will be able to demonstrate highest standards of nursing care alongside excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work well within a team and with other multi-professional colleagues, and the desire to provide high quality nursing care are all essential.

We are committed to providing staff with learning and development opportunities to support their career progression. We also offer on-site subsidised childcare, flexible working and a generous pension. We have a full time position available and the team work on an internal rotation which you will be expected to take part in.

This post could include the opportunity to rotate into other areas of the service after a foundation of 1 year.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • The post holder will be a first level registered nurse with a Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree in Nursing or equivalent level of knowledge
  • NMC approved Mentorship qualification or willingness to supervise students
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Palliative care qualification

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good analytical skills and ability to recognise deterioration, ability to make judgements on problems requiring investigation and analysis, e.g. assessment of patient condition.
  • Ability to assess patients, plan care for a group of patients, deliver care and evaluate the effectiveness of care given.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Leadership skills including good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • IT skills.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Palliative or end of life care experience
  • At least two years post registration experience
