Job overview
Salisbury Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer a maternity leave opportunity within the Pharmacy Digital Care Team. This senior role is ideal for a forward-thinking professional who is passionate about digital innovation and medicines optimisation.
As Pharmacy Digital Technology Lead, you will lead the support, development, and optimisation of the Trust’s Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) system. Leading the design and delivery of solutions that improve the safety, quality, and efficiency of pharmacy services.
We are seeking a digitally confident clinical pharmacist or experienced pharmacy technician with experience in electronic medicines management systems. You will join a collaborative digital pharmacy team and benefit from flexible hybrid working in line with service needs.
You will have a clear interest in improving patient care and staff experience through digital systems. Ward-based experience is desirable, but candidates with specialist e-medicines expertise and a passion for service improvement are strongly encouraged. The role includes a continued clinical commitment in the Pharmacy service.
As a member of the Pharmacy Senior Team, you will work closely with the Chief Pharmacist and Principal EPMA Pharmacist, providing strategic leadership for the Trust’s digital medicines agenda and collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues to support EPMA implementation and optimisation.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as lead administrator and professional lead for pharmacy digital systems, providing a key link between the Pharmacy Department, Trust Digital/IT teams, and clinical users. They will ensure systems including Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (EPMA) and pharmacy stock control are configured, maintained, and used safely and effectively in line with clinical and organisational requirements.
They will maintain expert knowledge of EPMA and provide leadership in system development, configuration, testing, validation, monitoring, and optimisation, acting as a trusted advisor to support safe clinical use and continuous improvement.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Trust, the post holder will ensure digital systems meet the needs of services, staff, and patients, supporting changes to clinical workflows and embedding digital solutions into routine practice.
The role includes close working with external suppliers and NHS digital leads, representing the Trust at regional and national user groups and contributing to professional networks. Over time, the post holder will develop subject matter expertise in additional pharmacy digital systems, including Careflow Medicines Management, dispensing robotics, and automated medicines cabinets.
