Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated pharmacist with specialist expertise in chemotherapy to join our Clinical Cancer Services team. This is a key senior role within a small, highly collaborative team that is fully embedded within the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and actively contributes to service innovation and strategic development.

You will lead the delivery of a high-quality, patient-focused clinical pharmacy service across inpatient oncology, haematology and palliative care settings. The role offers significant professional autonomy and the opportunity to influence clinical practice, support service improvement initiatives, and act as the pharmacy lead within these specialties.

This post attracts a Recruitment and Retention Premium (RRP) of £3,000.

We are a supportive, forward-thinking team with a strong focus on excellence in patient care and staff wellbeing. The pharmacy department is bright and modern, with a large tearoom and access to outdoor spaces.

The service operates seven days a week. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (no late-night rota), Saturday 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and Sunday 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Weekend working is on a 1-in-8 basis, with one bank holiday per year.

Main duties of the job

You will provide a pharmacy service as part of our clinical cancer services team, in particular Oncology, Haematology and Hospice specialities focussing on the inpatient setting. The intention of this role is for the successful candidate to be fully imbedded within the inpatient settings and to represent pharmacy in these settings.

We are a super friendly team with a passion for delivering excellent patient care.  We have a bright and airy department with a large tearoom and access to outdoor open spaces to improve wellbeing.  Our service is open 7 days a week and our current opening hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am-5pm (with no late night rota), Saturday 9am-1pm and Sunday 9.30am-1pm.  Weekend shifts are 1 in 8 with one bank holiday per year.
