We are offering an opportunity for the right candidate to step into the exciting field of hospital pharmacy services. Once qualified in Pharmacy Service Skills and after a period of experience you will progress to Senior Pharmacy Support Worker (Band 3).

We welcome applications from individuals with or without previous pharmacy experience. Holders of a level 2 pharmacy qualification will not be required to repeat it and will progress to Senior Pharmacy Support Worker after a period of appropriate experience and completion of all relevant competencies as listed in the person specification.

School and college leavers are welcome to apply as is anyone looking for a rewarding career change.

This role is based in the procurement and distribution section of the pharmacy and will involve working with the Aseptics department team, managing the ordering, receiving and maintenance of batch and patient specific chemotherapy. This rewarding role will help to ensure that patients receive their medication in a timely manner. This post holder will be required to undertake regular repetitive manual handling of loads of approximately 10kg to 15kg.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a member of the pharmacy procurement and distribution team with specific responsibility for the receipt and maintenance of chemotherapy stock, including patient specific and batch produced products.
  • To ensure the timely distribution of stock received to the aseptic unit, facilitating prompt dispensing of medication to individual patients awaiting treatment.
