Deputy Divisional Director of Nursing - Urgent and Emergency Care

Band 8b

Job overview

We are delighted to offer an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Senior Nurse to join the leadership team within the Medicine Division at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

We welcome applications from exceptional nursing leaders with significant experience in urgent and emergency care, who can demonstrate strong clinical leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient-centred care.

The Medicine Division is a large and diverse service encompassing Urgent and Emergency Care, Stroke, and Elderly Care. We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and forward-thinking registered nurse with a proven track record of leading acute and emergency care services. While experience within medicine would be desirable, it is not essential; however, the successful candidate will be expected to quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of the services delivered across the Division.

You will bring demonstrable experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, driving continuous improvement, implementing change, and fostering a culture where patient safety, quality, and experience remain at the heart of all decisions.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional and clinical leadership to nursing teams within the Division, acting as an inspirational role model across the Trust. The post holder will promote excellence in clinical practice, support the development of high-performing teams, and ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care.

The role will lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives aligned with the divisional strategy and wider corporate nursing priorities, driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Using strong leadership and change management skills, the post holder will play a key role in shaping future service developments, supporting teams through periods of change, and ensuring the continued delivery of outstanding nursing care across a diverse range of clinical services.
