Job overview

Group Chief Digital and Information Officer

The BSW Hospitals Group is seeking an exceptional digital leader to shape and deliver a transformative digital and data agenda across our three acute Trusts: Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead digital transformation at scale across a developing Group committed to improving outcomes, enhancing patient and staff experience, and creating healthier, more equitable communities.

Main duties of the job

As Group Chief Digital and Information Officer, you will provide strategic leadership for the digital, data, and technology agenda across all three sites. Working closely with Executive, clinical, and operational colleagues, you will:

  • Modernise and integrate digital systems across the Group
  • Strengthen cybersecurity and digital resilience
  • Drive the adoption of new technologies, including AI, automation, and advanced analytics
  • Reduce digital exclusion and improve access to digital tools
  • Embed data‑driven insight and decision‑making across clinical and non‑clinical services
  • Lead the implementation and benefits realisation of our new shared and integrated Electronic Patient Record
  • Provide visible system leadership across the BSW Integrated Care System

Your leadership will set the tone for digital innovation across the Group, ensuring our digital capability keeps pace with rising demand, increasing complexity, and the need for more integrated and preventative care.

Working for our organisation

We are proud to be part of BSW Hospitals Group – a formal partnership between Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. With a combined workforce of over 17, 600 colleagues, and budget of 1.6 billion the Group is united by a common purpose to deliver the best possible care to over 1 million people.

We are creating a health and care system that works with the people we care for, reducing the differences people currently face in access, experience and outcomes, improving the experience of our colleagues and tackling shared challenges like sustainability and finances. Every improvement we make across our Group will be guided by what creates the greatest benefit for our colleagues, our patients, our communities and our partners.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Executive, and working alongside Executive, clinical, and operational colleagues, the Chief Digital and Information Officer (CDIO) will provide a critical role in enabling digital transformation across Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Royal United  Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, and Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust.
