Are you an aspiring paediatric dietitian looking for your first job? If so, this may be the opportunity for you.
We are offering a band 5 to 6 development role which would be suitable for a newly qualified dietitian or someone looking to further develop their paediatric skills. We are based at the Great Western Hospital and our friendly and supportive team consists of dietitians, dietetic assistants, nutrition nurses and admin team.
Our paediatric teams supports our inpatient ward, neonatal unit, general paediatric outpatient clinics, Type 1 diabetes service and home enterally fed babies and children.
We are committed to learning and development and provide placement opportunities for T level students, pre registration dietitians & apprentices. We have excellent access to CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job
Band 5
To provide effective dietetic treatment for a delegated caseload of paediatric in-patients and out-patients at the Great Western Hospital with support and training provided by specialist paediatric dietitians to ensure appropriate professional conduct and development.
Band 6
The post holder will provide and support the development of the dietetic service for paediatric patients.
Other aspects of the role include working as a key part of multidisciplinary and dietetic teams, participating in student training, work experience and return to practice programmes within the department and supporting the development of Dietetic outcomes.
To take the lead on department wide priority, project or representative role for the team.

Qualifications Band 5
Essential criteria
- Degree or post graduate diploma in Dietetics or Nutrition & Dietetics
- Registration by the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Member of British Dietetic Association
Desirable criteria
- Member of relevant BDA special interest group (e.g. PEN Group, community Group)
- CPD relevant to elements of post
- Previous experience of student training
- Student Supervisory Skills training
Experience Band 5
Essential criteria
- Supervised dietetic placement – evidence of B & C placements or recent band 5 experience
- Recent experience of working within a team
- Recent experience of working with MUST (or similar)
- Recent evidence of Continuous Professional Development
- Recent experience in the planning, delivery and evaluation of patient and or staff education programmes
- Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge of management of nutritional issues
Desirable criteria
- Recent experience of working with vulnerable people or children
- Experience of working in paediatric dietetics
Qualifications Band 6
Essential criteria
- Degree or post graduate diploma in Dietetics or Nutrition & Dietetics
- Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Member of British Dietetic Association
- CPD relevant to elements of post

- Current relevant band 5/6 experience
- Current experience of working with patients with the conditions covered by this post
- Current experience of working within a team

- Current experience in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of education programmes to a range of health professionals
- Evidence of using evidence-based practice
- Evidence of service/quality improvement
- Previous experience of student training
