Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available to work within Sexual Health, Swindon. We are located in Swindon Health Centre and also run a clinic at Chippenham Community Hospital.
You will need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and flexible to be able to support members of the public with their sexual and contraceptive health.
You will be working in a small dedicated team consisting of Doctors, Nurses, Health Advisors and Admin staff.
You will have the opportunity to train in venepuncture, close support as well as chaperoning of routine coil and implant procedures and complex contraceptive clinics. We are also rolling out a vaccination training package to Band 3's in our department.
You will be able to process specimens, ensuring labelling is correct to protect patient confidentiality and accurate results. Assistance on the day to day running of the service is also required- stocking/replenishing.
As part of the role, safeguarding young, vulnerable people and adults is paramount and you will receive training on this if you do not already have it.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
A Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) is a core member of the team delivering direct care to patients and supporting registered practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to people
in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.
You will carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare, or therapeutic tasks, under the direct or indirect supervision of the registered healthcare practitioner, in accordance with the Trust values.
There will be opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills, specific to your needs. Training will be provided to ensure you have the required core skills and skills set specific to your area of work. You will also
be supported to obtain your care certificate if you do not have this qualification.

Essential criteria
- One of the following: Level 3 (SCQF – 6): - City and Guilds 3
- NVQ 3
- BTEC National Diploma
- Experience equivalent to the above qualifications
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Math’s or equivalent
- Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker)
- Equivalent experience together with Level 2 qualification and working towards Level 3
Experience

- Evidence of ability to work as a member of a team
Desirable criteria
- Prior experience as a support worker
