The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable. 

 

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly organised individual to join our Medicine Directorate within the Wrexham Maelor Hospital.  The post holder will be responsible for the daily operational management of medical staffing issues.

The post holder will work alongside the Lead Rota Coordinator, Speciality Mangers, Doctors, Finance Department and Workforce. The post holder will need to use initiative, working in sometimes complex situations to oversee the running of medical staffing within the Medical Directorate. Excellent communication / interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to use your own initiative to solve problems as they arise. 

The hours of work are 37.5 per week.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking applications for a permanent post within the Medical Division at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. If you are tenacious, with a flexible approach to work, cope well under pressure and would like a job that challenges you then you could be the person we are looking for to fill this new post.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of effective rota co-ordination across the Medical Directorate. The post holder will have excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to work with minimum supervision. They will possess a positive and solution focused attitude at all times to ensure rotas are in place to deliver an efficient and effective operational clinical service for all of our patients. 

The post holder will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adopt a positive attitude towards staff and problem solving and will be required to work on their own initiative, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, referring issues to their Line Manager as appropriate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Co-ordinating and overseeing the smooth running of doctors’ shift patterns in line with the New Deal – Junior Doctors Hours/European Working Time 

Directive. Co-ordination of all leave arrangements and prospective cover for Consultants’ and junior medical staff. The post holder will work closely with the health boards New Deal Coordinator in monitoring the shift patterns on a regular basis to ensure continued compliance with New Deal and EWTD.
The post holder will assist in the production of weekly/monthly duty rosters for Consultant and junior medical staff within sub-specialties of the 
DIRECTORATE.
The post holder will also undertake ad hoc reports and projects as and when requested by the General Manager for Mecical Directorate Clinical Director, 
Lead Site Specialty Manager or, Management Team. These reports / projects will be in line with the responsibilities of the grade of the post.
