Job overview

Overall recruitment for Specialty Doctors, Wales Deanery vacancies and  Health Board positions in line with National and Health Board policies and procedures Agency Locum appointments and invoicing process

  • Co-ordinate the recruitment and appointment process for all grades of medical staff.
  • Providing advice and guidance on recruitment, locum and other queries.
  • To maintain relevant systems / databases (Electronic Staff Records; Intrepid; NHS Jobs etc).
  • To collate information, including recruitment; vacancy; locum activity and invoicing provide this on a monthly basis to the Resourcing Manager; and organisation as required.

Main duties of the job

Oversee the appointment process for the Specialty and Junior Doctors by the Medical Workforce Recruitment Assistants, working with them and the Divisions to resolve any difficulties or barriers to recruitment. 

Ensure vacancy Establishment Control Procedures, current recruitment principles and pre-employment checking requirements have been adhered to.

To notify successful and unsuccessful candidates of the outcome of the recruitment interviews being aware of the need for sensitivity particularly where a candidate has been unsuccessful. 

Undertake direct liaison between Division`s Locum Agencies and directorates, to establish requirements and ensure Locum cover is planned, where appropriate and is provided for absent Doctors/vacancies in accordance with the Department of Health Locum Code of Practice and other relevant guidelines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 in administration or Customer Service
  • ECDL

  • Experience of working in an administrative role
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Office Word; Excel
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills so as to be able to deal with callers over the phone and in person in a professional and courteous manner
