This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 6 months to meet the needs of the service.
We are seeking a qualified, motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team for a 6 month fixed term contract on a part-time basis, 18.75 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly or recently qualified Speech and Language Therapist looking to gain experience within a dynamic setting. The successful applicant will join our well established paediatric service in BCUHB East IHC, covering Wrexham and Flintshire.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
This role will be part of one of our exciting projects to develop new ways of working, providing additional therapy to high need children, collating and comparing outcomes or supporting assessment lists. Children will be aged 7 years and under and will be seen in schools and/or clinics. You will work as part of an integrated team and will liaise with families and supporting agencies as required. You will work under the guidance of specialist SLTs, providing a fantastic learning opportunity for a developing B5 clinician.
We have a whole service approach, which means that whichever project you are part of, you will have strong links and access to the support of friendly, experienced SLTs and TIs working in all areas of paediatric Speech and Language Therapy. We are a forward thinking department and you will need to show flexibility and innovation and share in the team’s passion for delivering quality patient led care.
We offer a comprehensive and structured induction to all our new starters followed by high quality clinical supervision, regular team meetings and exciting CPD opportunities. We pride ourselves on our strong NQP support network, with colleagues with extensive skills and experience around you to help you develop as an SLT. You will receive regular management and clinical supervision.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised qualification degree/equivalent in S<.
- HCPC registered.
- RCSLT registered.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of appropriate clinical network group.
- Demonstrate understanding & involvement of clinical governance and risk assessment.
- Knowledge of health legislation/policy.
- Alternative and augmentative communication knowledge & skills.
Experience
Essential criteria
- A range of clinical experience across Adult/Paediatric SLT services.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of delegating work to non-registered staff.
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary/ multiprofessional teams.
- Experience of supporting service change.
- Welsh/English therapy provision.
- Additional clinical or health care related experience.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
