Exciting Leadership Opportunity to be a Speech & Language Therapist Team Leader
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 7, Speech and Language Therapist Team Leader within the Additional Needs Team, supporting services across Wrexham and Flintshire, 3 days a week (0.6 WTE).
In this dynamic leadership role, you will manage a highly specialist clinical caseload within the Additional Needs Service while helping to shape and develop the service to meet evolving population needs. You will provide day‑to‑day operational support and take full responsibility for line management, including staff supervision, professional development, and fostering a positive team culture. You will also contribute to recruitment processes to help build and maintain a strong and skilled workforce.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide direct line management to a team of Speech and Language Therapists working within the Paediatric ALN service, collaborating closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Service and wider colleagues to ensure equitable, high‑quality service provision and ongoing development. Using strong coaching and facilitative leadership skills, they will support and empower the team to deliver high‑quality clinical services and to explore innovative, flexible approaches beyond traditional service boundaries. They will also work alongside other SLT leaders, such as clinical leads and team leaders across key service areas, to ensure that operational priorities and clinical development align seamlessly.
The post holder will join a warm, supportive, and proactive SLT Leadership and Management group, with access to a comprehensive package of training, supervision, and leadership development.
Alongside your leadership duties, you will continue to work as a Highly Specialist SLT, contributing your advanced clinical expertise to support children and families.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and /or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

We offer a comprehensive and structured induction to all our new starters followed by high quality clinical supervision, regular team meetings and exciting CPD opportunities. You will receive regular management and clinical supervision.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S<
- HCPC registered
- Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level
- Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio.
- Clinical supervisory skills training
Desirable criteria
- Membership of appropriate clinical network group
- Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
- Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience clinically in area of specialism
- Experience of clinical leadership
- Delegation to qualified and non-registered staff
- Experience of delivering clinical education in area of specialty
- Evidence of teaching within post
- Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams
- Involvement in clinical audit
- Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in relation to clinical specialty
