Job overview
You will support the Psychosocial and clinical caseworkers to manage health promotion initiatives and harm reduction messages
You will provide information to the Substance Misuse team on how individuals’ needs are changing and feedback on the appropriateness of the individual’s treatment plan when there are issues.
You will prepare for, undertakes and record interventions / treatments correctly, and in line with legislation, policies and procedures and / or established protocols.
Main duties of the job
- You will have excellent presentation skills and it is essential that you have experience of delivering group sessions or presenting materials in a professional or educational environment.
- You will be qualified to or working towards degree level in a relevant subject or have equivalent experience and be determined to develop your wider skills within the substance misuse service.
- Provide an effective and efficient service to men in custody who have previous or current problems with substance misuse.
- Attend meetings associated with your area of responsibility
- Demonstrate a willingness to develop professionally and contribute to the delivery of the substance misuse treatment framework to the prison population
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and an ability to solve multiple issues within a fast-paced custodial context.
- You will be able to work autonomously
- You will remain flexible in the remit of your role, offering a wide range of care within the service.
- As a Band 4 substance misuse practitioner you may also manage a caseload of men who use substances ensuring appropriate assessment and treatment interventions are provided and care plan objectives are agreed and achieved.
- You will support the Psychosocial and clinical caseworkers to manage health promotion initiatives and harm reduction messages.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
- Degree in Health and Social Care or equivalent experience or Level 4 Practitioner
- Working knowledge of Assistant Practitioner role.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in the facilitation of psychologically informed groups

- Significant experience working within a relevant clinical service as a senior HCA / HCSW.

- Experience of working at as an Assistant Practitioner within a relevant clinical service
