Job overview
We are looking for an organised individual with experience of commercial research to join our research delivery team in this exciting new role. You will work in collaboration with Trust clinical teams and community partners to facilitate the growth and delivery of commercial research across the Trust and wider care settings. You will also manage the performance of the Trust’s diverse commercial research portfolio. This role could be a secondment opportunity.
Main duties of the job
You will develop and manage relations with commercial organisations, identifying research opportunities across primary and secondary clinical care pathways and boundaries. You will monitor compliance with performance metrics for the department’s entire industry portfolio, problem solving challenges relating to efficient study identification, set up, delivery and financial management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship. If it is identified that you require sponsorship to undertake this role your application may be withdrawn
1. Identify key stakeholders within industry organisations, plan a communication strategy in order to build and maintain positive, trusting working relationships
2. Facilitate the delivery of commercial research in wider care settings, including primary and residential care and use of Mobile Research Units (MRUs), by providing assurance to sponsors of MPFT’s innovative, collaborative approach to decentralised study delivery
3. Promote the Trust to commercial research organisations and advise on benefits and opportunities available from collaboration with MPFT
4. Build positive and trusting relationships with other NHS Trusts and across wider care settings with VCSE partners and Primary Care Networks
5. Plan the development and growth of the commercial research portfolio across all MPFT’s research delivery sites: Stafford, Shrewsbury, Cheadle and Stoke on Trent
6. Engage with research naive clinical teams and services across MPFT to further embed research culture and participation in commercial research
7. Proactively monitor and report on the progress of all commercial studies against NIHR metrics in relation to study set up and recruitment, problem solving to address blocks and challenges

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to First Degree level in health or social care, leadership or management, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of Masters level post graduate level study in health or social care, leadership or management
Experience

- Significant experience in the healthcare research sector
Desirable criteria
- Experience of quality assurance, audit and monitoring within a research or healthcare environment

- Experience and knowledge of the commercial trial lifecycle, including feasibility, set up and delivery

- Working knowledge of EDGE system
