The role of the Deputy Head of Clinical Education & Practice Development is to work across the clinical divisions and the organisation, to assist in leading on the practice development, education and quality agenda and, using highly developed specialist knowledge from theoretical and experiential sources.
Main duties of the job
- Accountable for budgets within the Education and Library team i.e. uniforms, stationary, overtime.
- Help assist the HOCE to roll out the Trust Education Strategy, for all non-medical staff. Meeting service and individuals needs and ensuring links with the providers of education and other professional bodies.
- Responsible for leading and managing the co-ordination of specific training in line with local and national requirements, trust guidelines and competencies under the guidance of HOCE.
- Responsible and lead/chair clinical skills group for all new techniques in the organization
- Provides expert advice and specialist knowledge to all areas of the trust for nonmedical education and practice development
- Monitor standards for education and practice development.
- Responsible for analysing data for educational audits, research and feedback.
- Reporting trends and reports across organisation, involving complex analysis and subsequent development of relevant business plans.
- Responsible and accountable for trust-wide compliance with the NMC, HCPC standards in relation to pre-post registration education under the guidance of HOCE.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To work collaboratively with the medical education, lead to ensure all opportunities for multi-professional developments are maximised
- Ensure that there is a high-quality provision of non-medical education within the trust.
- To promote high quality clinical learning environment.
- To share good practice across the profession, in relation to the development of the clinical learning environment.
- Ensure standards and objectives of educational contracts are met.
- Provide leadership and act as a role model to nursing including advice on professional nursing issues at both local and national levels. Providing direction guided by national regulatory framework.
- Lead and manage appropriate projects relating to the provision of education aiming to enhance clinical practice and patient care.
- Lead and encourage multi-disciplinary collaborative working dealing with resistance to change in a positive and productive way.
- Act as an effective role model for the profession, develop own credibility, through demonstrating of consistent high standard of nursing care.
- Lead, manage, motivate and develop staff to ensure staff has high levels of morale.

Essential criteria
- Registered Professional
- Hold a degree in their professional discipline
- Teaching/Mentorship Qualification
- Evidence ongoing personal development
- Master's qualification or equivalent experience
Experience and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstratable experience of improving service change within a highly complex scale health organisation
- Evidence of developing, implementing and monitoring educational programme in a healthcare organisation
- Proven ability to analyse highly complex problems and to develop successful practical and workable solutions
- Evidence of ability to lead, motivate and influence individuals both within the Trust and outside organisations
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in an acute healthcare setting
- Experience of education commissioning
