An opportunity has arisen for a (0.59 WTE, 22 hours) Band 4 post within the Hand Therapy outpatient team. The hand therapy team is a friendly team who work across three sites treating patients recovering from hand injuries, and conditions that affect the hands. We are a supportive team and you will have regular training and weekly supervision. Your role will include clinical (1:1 clinical assessments and facilitating groups) and non clinical duties such as stock taking, general housekeeping and administrative duties. The post will be based at PCH site.
Interviews for this role will be conducted in person to assess relevant skills effectively
Main duties of the job
To undertake assessments and treatments for patients that have been screened by a Therapist and deemed appropriate for Therapy Assistant Practitioner intervention with case management advice available via indirect and direct contact with a registered therapist.
To carry own caseload of non-complex patients assessing, according to competencies, and devising and implementing treatment programmes within a framework of protocols and/or competency.
To work collaboratively within Multidisciplinary and Multi-agency teams with the aim of supporting timely discharge.
To enable patients, their families and carers in the attainment of their rehabilitation goals by providing treatment programmes developed and monitored by Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in supervision.
To deliver safe, efficient and effective patient focussed care in line with local standards.
To be actively involved in the in-service training programme, including the mentoring and training of Band 2 and 3 therapy assistants and supporting students as required.
To participate in the provision of 7-day services as required.
To adhere to the Trusts values and behaviours.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 apprenticeship in health and social care (NVQ III)
- GCSE English and Maths – grade 9-4 or Functional skills English and Maths - level 2
- Evidence of having attended clinical training and how this has been put into practice
Desirable criteria
- Relevant degree, e.g. level 5 foundation degree (healthcare related) sports therapy, sports science, rehabilitation science, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology
- A level in human biology
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of working as a band 3 in a Therapy support worker role or student therapist role
- Comfortable using clinical and administrative IT systems as part of daily workflow
Desirable criteria
- Experience of facilitating group-based activities and delivering education sessions to patients in a healthcare or community setting
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the roles of Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist within rehabilitation and the ability to support their interventions to promote patient independence and recovery
- To have an in-depth knowledge of rehabilitation
- To have an in-depth knowledge of the anatomy and physiology upper limb
