Job overview
The Estates Supervisor is a key member of the Estates and Facilities team, responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of estates maintenance services supporting Stamford Hospital and Peterborough City Hospital retained buildings.
The post holder will provide operational leadership for maintenance activities, ensuring that planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, statutory compliance inspections and minor works are delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to clinical services.
Working closely with the Estates Manager, clinical teams and external contractors, the Estates Supervisor will ensure that the ward and outpatient environments remain safe, compliant, functional and fit for purpose for patients, staff and visitors.
The Estates Supervisor will coordinate and supervise maintenance staff and contractors, monitor service performance, prioritise workloads and ensure that all works are completed in accordance with Trust policies, statutory regulations and health and safety requirements.
This role will cover all 3 sites.
Main duties of the job
Provides specialist technical advice and guidance to the Trust in respect of Estates maintenance, engineering services, statutory compliance and health and safety matters, ensuring that the management and supervision of the estate withstands scrutiny from internal and external auditors in relation to compliance, value for money, service standards, NHS guidance and all relevant statutory requirements.
Supports the Estates Manager in identifying, managing and addressing any areas of non-compliance across the estate, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are implemented and monitored. Ensures that critical plant, equipment and engineering systems are maintained and available to support the delivery of clinical and operational services, contributing to the development and implementation of contingency arrangements to minimise disruption in the event of system or equipment failure.
Maintains oversight of the Building Management System (BMS), ensuring system information remains accurate and up to date through amendments, additions and deletions as required, whilst monitoring system performance and responding to operational issues and alarms as appropriate.

Education/Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Building Services Qualification
- Track record of Estates Supervision in a health care or related organisation
- Evidence of ongoing personal and technical development
- Knowledge of HBN ,HTM and H&S regulations
Desirable criteria
- Professional knowledge acquired to degree level with appropriate professional registration recognised by the Engineering Council UK or equivalent Estates Management performance, experience and specialist knowledge.
- Corporate membership of relevant professional body
- Authorised Person (Electrical, Pressure systems ,HVAC , Water)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Understanding of mechanical, electrical or building fabric maintenance of buildings services
- Proven knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and statutory obligations relating to health premises and Estate Management.
- Previous experience of either mechanical, electrical or building fabric maintenance work experience.
- Experience of working within a customer focused repairs and maintenance service.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of best Estates practice
- Experience of working with a range of portable tools, small plant, ladders and equipment to enable correct maintenance of the equipment to be carried out
