Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

We are looking for HCPC registered Radiographers or RCT registered Clinical Technologists to join the Radiotherapy Physics team at Southampton.   This is a progressive post suitable for newly qualified applicants appointed at Band 5 or staff with relevant experience will be appointed at Band 6.  Newly qualified staff will have set competencies to become a Band 6 which you will be expected to complete within 12 months.

Radiotherapy physics supports services which include SRS, SABR, IntraOperative Radiotherapy and Brachytherapy. We have a comprehensive clinical trials portfolio and research projects ongoing in areas of imaging and dosimetry.  Services are delivered across sites at Southampton General Hospital (SGH) and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (BNHH).   Southampton is equipped with 6 linacs and 2 dedicated planning CTs and Basingstoke is equipped with a further linac and dedicated planning CT and HDR brachythery equipment.

Your Responsibilities

 

What you’ll do'

The post holder will have a significant role in provision of mould room services and should have a strong interest in this area of the role.  They will work directly with patients to deliver bespoke immobilisation solutions as well as supporting evaluation and procurement of optimal solutions and teaching and training. Outside of mould room there will be the opportunity to work across other areas of radiotherapy physics to meet the needs to of the service.

What we’re looking for

 

 Applicants need to be eligible to be registered as an HCPC registered Therapy Radiographer or Clinical Technologist (Radiotherapy)

Training will be delivered to develop specialist skills in Radiotherapy Physics.

Qualifications / training required

  • Suitable qualifications(Typically BSc in science based subject or Therapeutic Radiography or equiv) and experience to have achieved State Registration as a Therapeutic Radiographer or eligibility for registration on the Voluntary Register for Technologists as a Radiotherapy Physics Technologist.
  • Specialist knowledge of anatomy and physiology, radiation interactions and advanced radiotherapy techniques, Practical training in complex treatment planning and mould room skills.

  • Vocational degree in Therapeutic Radiography or Medical Technology

Previous or relevant experience necessary

  • Training as a Clinical Technologist in Radiotherapy Physics or as a Therapeutic Radiographer supplemented by significant expertise in radiotherapy planning techniques gained through CPD and work based training. Broad knowledge of anatomy, physiology radiotherapy treatment planning, mould room skills and dosimetry
  • Experience of IMRT / IMAT
