Job overview

We are inviting applicants for a full time Consultant Radiology post in Head and Neck imaging to join our friendly and dynamic team. We strive to evolve, improve, and maintain high standards in head and neck imaging and are looking for a highly motivated colleague to help strengthen and develop our service. The successful candidate should have completed adequate subspecialty training in head and neck radiology. A second subspecialist interest (such as neuroradiology) will be considered as part of a hybrid job.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The job will include reporting benign and oncological head and neck imaging studies (CT & MRI staging investigations, cochlear implant imaging, sinus imaging maxillofacial imaging, sialography) including inpatient /emergency work. The successful candidate must be proficient at neck ultrasound and US guided FNA and core biopsy procedures. The role will include active participation in the head and neck MDT and Thyroid MDT and regular benign ENT/OMFS meetings, working closely with clinicians in the relevant specialties and providing consultations and imaging reviews as part of your job plan. As part of a successful Wessex radiology training programme and South East Imaging Academy, active participation in teaching and training is an integral part of the role.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a consultant head and neck radiologist, with adequate subspecialty level, ideally at tertiary level, to continue to grow our enthusiastic team. Beyond the expected clinical attributes, the applicant should demonstrate organisational, communication and professional skills to a level to effectively undertake the consultant role. They should have enthusiasm for teaching and be able to work well in a team.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Individuals wishing to apply must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).

The successful candidate will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.

Qualifications and training

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • CCT Radiology or expected within 6 months of interview
Desirable criteria
  • MRCP
  • MRCS

Previous or relevant experience

Essential criteria
  • Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems
  • Completed general training in Radiology, and subspecialist head and neck /neuro radiology experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience using advanced post-processing or reporting imaging tools in clinical or research practice
  • Evidence of leading a team or managing a service

Aptitudes and skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate the ability to be calm, compassionate, and able to respond efficiently to various circumstances, which may change rapidly
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of participation in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research
  • Experience in organising electronic, computer based meetings, teaching and e-learning welcome
