Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Lead Pharmacy Assistant to join our excellent Pharmacy Team’s on the Hammersmith hospital site, which are part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
You will be part of the busy Pharmacy Dispensary and Distribution Team, providing a high quality, patient focused robotic dispensing and stock management service to the wards and clinics. You will also provide support to pharmacy stores.

Main duties of the job
- To assist in the provision of a high quality, flexible and responsive dispensing service to patients of the Trust, associated hospitals including the dispensing of prescriptions and supply of stock.
- To co-ordinate the dispensing of prescriptions in the appropriate time frame i.e. message pool prescriptions, OPAT, clinical trials and posted/couriered medication.
- To assist with the training of new staff with the various applications used in the dispensary i.e. Prescription tracker and CMM (Pharmacy labelling and stock maintenance computer system.
- To assist with the auditing of dispensary and distribution services.
- To co-ordinate the stock maintenance of sundries and personal protective equipment for the dispensary and offices.
- To assist with the receipt of medication into the dispensary or store, including receipt on the pharmacy computer system (ODELIV).

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good Secondary Education Literate and numerate (literacy to level 2 and numeracy to level 1) in order to achieve Level 2
- Mandatory Registration as Pharmacy Assistant with GPhC (NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or equivalent or to be achieved within 12 months of commencement of the course)
Desirable criteria
- Pharmacy Service Skills NVQ Level 2 (QCF) or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working with computers.
- Experience of working in a customer orientated environment.
Desirable criteria
- Use of CMM computer system
- Hospital experience
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to recognise the limits of own competence and refer or seek advice from others.
- Ability to enter data accurately
- Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised.
- Analytical ability for problem solving
