Job overview

Charing Cross Imaging have the opportunity for a suitable experienced, HCPC registered Radiographer to join the MR team.

Charing Cross Hospital is part of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The Trust employs 13,000 people, providing care for around a million people every year, in our five hospitals and a growing number of community services in North West London and offers 50 clinical specialties with one of the largest portfolios in the country.

Charing Cross Hospital provides a range of acute and specialist services, a 24/7 accident and emergency department and hosts the hyper acute stroke unit for the region. It is also a growing hub for integrated care in partnership with local GPs and community providers.

This post will give you the opportunity to build on and develop your clinical skills in MR. You should enjoy working collaboratively to provide the best possible care for our patients at all times. You will need excellent communication skills and have a flexible approach to work, as participation in extended working hours including evenings and weekends is essential. 

Charing Cross Hospital offers a range of adult MR examinations with both clinical and research work being undertaken. 

Main duties of the job

  • Perform MR procedures according to Trust, Departmental and statutory regulations.
  • Provide a high standard of patient care within the specialised area of MR.
  • To communicate effectively in order to ensure the smooth running of the service.
  • To supervise rotational staff and students within the MR department.
  • To deputise and line manage rotational staff in the absence of the MR Modality Lead.
  • Commitment to Directorate and Trust Objectives.

Person specification

Education

Essential criteria
  • BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent.
  • College of Radiographer accredited IV cannulation course or equivalent.
  • HCPC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate radiographic qualification or evidence of formal study in MR
  • Student Clinical Assessors qualification or course.
  • Ability to perform IM injections

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of good cross sectional anatomy knowledge e.g. previous experience in CT or MR.
  • An up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques, including contrast studies
  • An awareness of developments within the profession
  • An awareness of the factors affecting service throughput and quality.
Desirable criteria
  • MR experience
  • A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in the NHS.
  • Experience in the NHS as a Band 6 Senior Radiographer
  • Experience of training staff and students

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous personal development in MR.
