Job overview

Water Meadow View is a new mental health inpatient unit for adults who have learning disabilities, which is due to open in late 2025 on our site in Whittingham, Preston. As we prepare to open this unit, we have an exciting opportunity for a Housekeeper to join us and support the Multi-Disciplinary Team to deliver outstanding person centred care. 

One of the Trust's aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients, and this new inpatient unit will do just that. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support, and safety, with patient-centred care at its heart.

The post holder will work as an integral part of the Ward team and will be responsible for the co-ordination of all patient facilities/services in the in-patient area and for ensuring a safe, clean and comfortable environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deliver on key responsibilities

  • The role is to support ward managers in the running of the unit, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs, as determined by the Matron, Ward Manager or Nurse in Charge.
  • The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors and Estates & Facilities departments, and will monitor quality standards and rectify deficiencies in liaison with the Ward Managers. Where this is not possible or timely this will be escalated and formal records kept.
  • To carry out regular equipment monitoring and asset registers in accordance with procedures and in liaison with medical engineering, escalating identified issues in line with Trust policies

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
  • Working towards NVQ Level 3 in related subject (to be achieved within 1 year of appointment) or equivalent level of experience

  • Awareness and understanding of the importance of confidentiality
