Job title:  Ward Clerk
Department: Neonatal Unit 
Band 2 - £24,465 Per annum pro rata
Hours: 37.5 per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working. Part time hours to be considered 

Are you passionate about providing exceptional administrative support to a team? Are you able to ensure confidentiality when handling sensitive information? If so, you might be the person we need to join our team!

We are looking for a competent and professional Ward Clerk for our Neonatal unit, which can hold up to 17 of the most vulnerable little patients. As a Ward Clerk you will act as the focal point for the Ward and the team, confidentiality and patient safety always being key.

 

You will provide a high standard of administration support to the Ward Manager, medical and nursing staff and the wider team; interacting with other departments, patients and their visitors. You will monitor and manage the Electronic Patient Records system on the ward, ensuring an up-to-date bed state. You will respond to requests for information promptly and efficiently using a variety of communication methods, ensuring that information is accurate and meets governance standards.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

•    Greet all visitors to the unit in a friendly, helpful and courteous manner, maintaining ward safety as per operational policy. This will include talking to families and visitors via intercom
•    Be involved in the training of new staff (with the support of the IT department) in use of the Trusts computer systems. 
•    Update Badger net daily, which is our main maternity and neonatal patient record system
•    Order and maintain adequate supplies of equipment, printing and stationery.
•    Complete request for repairs, maintenance etc, as requested. Ensuring a good audit trail and follow up as required until completed.
•    Undertake general clerical duties in the clinical area including completing records, filing, photocopying, handling mail and filing in case notes.
•    Provide an accurate account of bed management via electronic systems e.g. admissions, transfers and discharges.
•    Answer the telephone, relaying any relevant messages when required.
•    Liaise with the MDT regarding booking of any appointments e.g. ophthalmology
