We are genuinely delighted to be able to offer this unique role for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work with people affected by homelessness in Bradford.
The post is based in the Clinical Health Psychology Department at BTHFT, who have specialised in working with patients with complex physical health difficulties for over 30 years, but involves working with a wide range of service providers in the homelessness sector in Bradford - from street outreach services to hostels and inpatient wards.
Main duties of the job
Above all we are looking for applicants with enthusiasm for working with people affected by homelessness and some experience and skills in working clinically with the kinds of complex difficulties they face – whether physical health problems, mental health difficulties and/or substance use issues.
In addition to providing specialist assessments and therapeutic interventions to individual clients, the job involves working closely with MDT colleagues across primary and secondary care as well as third sector, including providing reflective practice groups to staff.

The role sits within the well-established and friendly Clinical Health Psychology Department at BTHFT with all the professional and collegial support this brings. We are keen to support staff development through CPD opportunities and place a high value on clinical supervision and informal support.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist within NHS
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients’ psychological care and treatment, within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.
- Experience of delivering teaching, training and clinical supervision
- Experience of representing Clinical Psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
- Experience of working with adults with significant mental health difficulties (i.e. complex trauma) and/or substance abuse issues
Desirable criteria
- Experience of the application of working in different cultural contexts.
- Experience of working with adults with physical health difficulties
Skills
Essential criteria
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Highly developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation & supervision to other professional and non-professional groups
- Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to highly distressing situations and severely challenging behaviours.
- Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice in the face of regular exposure to highly emotive material and challenging behaviour.
- Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
Desirable criteria
- Skills in the administration and interpretation of neuropsychological assessments
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two highly specialised psychological therapies
- Knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the HCPC.
- Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the patient group.
- Completed post-qualification supervision training
Qualifications

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
- Registered with HCPC
