Hazardous Area Response Team
Specialist Paramedic

Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART) is the generic term applied to staff recruited specifically to operate within the inner cordon or in hazardous environments. An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right individual to undertake a clinical leadership role within a team of 6 HART Paramedics.
The successful candidate must have current relevant HART qualifications.
The successful applicant will promote and ensure a high level of clinical competence within their HART team. This will involve undertaking clinical observation shifts with team members, undertaking clinical audits, leading on the clinical aspect of training and maintaining the clinical lead amongst their team at incidents.

The successful candidate will be a HCPC Registered Paramedic with demonstrable experience in both operational and supervisory/managerial environments. In addition to this the candidate will be required to possess a comprehensive knowledge of CBRN/HAZMAT, Urban Search and Rescue (USaR), Response to Water Incidents and Tactical Medicine along with response to Major Incidents. To be eligible to apply the candidate must be an existing member of HART.
The successful candidate will also display excellent clinical competency, leadership, motivational and organisational skills. They will perform defined enhanced clinical skills for use within hazardous environments.
The selection process will involve the completion of an application form, assessments including a clinical micro-teach and Professional Discussions.
The successful candidates will undergo role specific training prior to starting the role.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

- • Low level of absence due to sickness in the last two years.

- • Flexibility required surrounding shifts and time away from home, including the requirement to attend residential training courses to achieve required standards.
- • Ability to be called for mutual aid with the possibility of overnight deployments beyond normal working patterns.
