Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity in Hywel Dda University Health Board for three Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners, two based within Carmarthenshire and one based within Pembrokeshire. The posts will support the development of the MSK pathway by working initially within the Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment & Treatment service (CMATS). As pathways transform there will be a requirement to work across the integrated MSK pathway including areas such as Primary Care, Outpatient care and the MSK Interface clinics based on service needs.

The Carmarthenshire posts will predominantly be based in the new Pentre Awel facility, with additional clinics based around Carmarthenshire (including Amman Valley, Cross Hands and Hafan Derwen sites). The Pembrokeshire post will be based at Withybush General Hospital with possible clinics at South Pembrokeshire hospital and Tenby Cottage Hospital. All locations are subject to service demand.

The University Health Board is working towards developing a fully integrated pathway and as part of this vision, the post holder will be required to work closely with the existing primary care MSK team, core MSK physiotherapy and Clinical Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment Services (CMATS). It will provide an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of physiotherapy practice, working through the whole MSK pathway, to develop strong clinical networks and to streamline pathways of care for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is identified as a clinical expert and is required to have a high clinical profile ensuring the provision of effective and efficient care.

At this level each post holder is expected to work as a highly skilled senior practitioner and to have expert knowledge.

The primary focus of the role is to work as an advanced, autonomous practitioner providing patient-centred clinical care, encompassing the skills of musculoskeletal assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment and rehabilitation of patients. The posts are intended to provide improved outcomes for patients by improving timeliness and consistency of care.

The successful candidates will support the development of this service providing leadership and clinical service delivery. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have proven leadership skills and experience working at Extended Scope or Advanced Practice levels. MSc level training is essential.
