Job overview
An exciting opportunity has come up for a qualified diagnostic radiographer to join the MRI team at St Mary’s hospital – Paddington, London. We are looking to recruit a B7 MRI Radiographer for a full time Fixed-Term MRI post. The position is a 12 months post to cover Maternity Leave, with an expectation to start November/December 2026.
St Mary’s has recently installed the latest in AI reconstruction technology onto 3 of our 4 GE MRI scaners. We are therefore looking for fresh and dynamic individuals to join the team to integrate and further develop this service with the latest protocol optimisation.
In this MRI post, you can expect to perform a diverse range of diagnostic MR procedures, including cardiac imaging, for both adult and pediatric patients.
We are looking for individuals who are ready to embrace the challenges that come with the meticulous process of protocol overhaul, ensuring the sequences are in line with the latest research whilst prioritising department efficiency. You should have excellent technical background and be ready to demonstrate leadership as you join our friendly and welcoming MRI team.

Main duties of the job
- Perform MRI procedures according to Trust, Departmental and statutory regulations.
- Provide a high standard of patient care within the specialised area of MRI.
- To communicate effectively in order to ensure the smooth running of the service.
- To supervise and line manage band 6 staff, imaging assistants and students.
- To deputise for the MRI Modality Lead.
- Commitment to Directorate and Trust Objectives.

Essential criteria
- BSc(Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Post-Graduate Study
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous whole body MRI scanning experience
- Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
- Experience of training staff and students
- Awareness of clinical governance issue in relation to patient care
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience at Band 7 Level
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff
- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
- Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance
- Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis
Desirable criteria
- Teaching, counselling and supervisory skills
- IV injecting skills
