Business Support Assistant

RCN Wales HQ, Cardiff (Ty Maeth)

Permanent contract

17.5 hours per week – 2pm to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday

Salary: £29,073 per annum pro rata

There is more to the RCN than you might think. We’re a trade union with a membership of over half a million nurses, midwives, nursing support workers and students. We support their practice, represent them, lobby on their behalf, and develop them. We exist to make a positive difference – to the working lives of our members and ultimately to standards in patient care. Our employees are drawn from many walks of life – we are nurses, marketers and communicators, administrators, IT professionals, policy and finance experts, lawyers… together we are so much more. We couldn’t do what we do without our people.

As our Business Support Assistant, you’ll use your positive attitude, your knowledge of health and safety and your customer service skills to deliver a se amless business support and facility service to our staff and members.

In this varied role every day will be filled with possibilities. You will get involved in everything from locking and securing our premises, liaising with contractors to organise repairs, monitoring contracts, seminar room set up and bookings, health and safety duties, ordering authorised supplies and providing cover for reception. It's a great way to build on your skills and experience and develop your potential.

To join us you will ideally have a background in business support, experience of working in a customer service environment and knowledge of health and safety principles in the workplace. You will also have experience of working within a team environment and be able to organise your work to deliver a quality service.

To succeed at the Royal College of Nursin g all you need to do is think bigger, better and brighter. And with an attitude like that, anything’s possible.

What we offer you

We expect you to look after our staff, members and visitors. And we expect you to be rewarded for it. We offer an impressive range of benefits, a broad range of learning development opportunities and an award-winning health and wellbeing programme. We offer annual leave up to 32 days plus bank holidays and three additional days for the Christmas break plus generous maternity, adoption, paternity, and shared parental leave packages.

Please note that this role is office based and the hours are not negotiable.
