Why not consider joining the dynamic and highly motivated Practice Development Team at the Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Trust. The Practice Development Team work Trust wide supporting all levels of the nursing team to deliver high quality, evidence based, compassionate care to our patients. The team comprises of highly experienced educators who provide training and assessment for the National Care Certificate, Pre-Registration programmes, Preceptorship and ongoing skills and career development.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work strategically across the Trust supporting learning and development initiatives that enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes. 
An integral part of the role is providing multi-professional education in the classroom using a variety of teaching methods including innovative strategies such as simulation, and educational games. You would be supported by the team to develop the knowledge and skills to facilitate excellent education both in the classroom and at the bedside.

Advanced communication skills and successful completion of mentorship or Practice Assessor training are essential for the role when coaching, teaching, assessing and providing feedback/forward. Your clinical expertise will contribute not only to the development and delivery of education but also to quality improvement initiatives, governance processes, and the implementation of evidence-based practice across the Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will:
•    act as a role model / professional resource, acting within the Professional Code of Conduct at all times
•    support the professional development of all nursing staff.
•    support the development of clinical competence and evidence-based practice to ensure best possible patient outcomes and experience. 
•    assist in the delivery of education programmes and act as a clinical role model
•    work under the management of a Senior Practice Development Sister/Charge Nurse.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Mentorship/Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent
  • Demonstrate post qualification or equivalent experience in nursing studies, which equates to sufficient clinical expertise
Desirable criteria
  • Completed or on pathway for Post Graduate Certificate for Professional Education

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate up to date clinical credibility/ competence
  • Evidence in changing practice and project management
  • Evidence of commitment to CPD
